Swimming exercise – Pilates – hands-on cueing

In this picture, Laura is helping Carmelita relax her upper trapezius muscles by placing your fingertips on either side of the spine and pulling gently down.

Pilates exercises – double leg stretch – tactile cueing

In this picture, Laura’s helping Carmalita maintain neutral spine by making sure her knees do not go past her hips. If the knees go back past hips then the lower back flattens and neutral spine is lost.

Tactile cueing is something that is taught in our Pilates teacher training program. Learn more about Pilates and sign-up us for our upcoming program in September!

Pilates exercises – crisscross adjustment

In this picture, Laura is helping Carmalita achieve good alignment in her legs and feet while she is doing the crisscross. This can be challenging because many students allow their hips and to rock side to side which affects alignment of the legs. By holding your hands where you would like your clients to reach their feet, you can help them achieve better alignment. We learn adjustments in our Feel Good Pilates Teacher Training program. Roll-up – tactile cueing

This is an adjustment for the roll-up, one of the classical Pilates exercises. In this picture, Laura is helping Carmalita slow down on the roll-down portion of the roll-up exercise. Laura is grabbing on to Carmalita’s wrists then giving her just a little bit of support as she asks Carmalita to slow down the roll-down as much as she can on her own.

Pilates exercises – Bridge – Tactile Cueing

In this picture, Laura is massaging the muscles in Carmalita’s back toward the spine from the bottom to the top. This is not a correction for alignment. Instead it is meant simply to be enjoyable for the client.
