Restorative Yoga

Restorative yoga is a unique style of yoga that focuses on supporting the body in a deeply restful way. There are no standing poses; all postures are seated or laying down and are held for a prolonged period of time to foster a deep state of relaxation. A variety of props such as bolsters, blankets, and blocks are used to encourage stillness and comfort.

Prenatal Yoga

Make the most out of this very special time in your life by taking part in this unique series of yoga postures and strengthening exercises specifically designed to increase your energy, stamina and sense of well-being during pregnancy. This class will also assist you in developing tone and the concentration necessary to help you with a successful labour and delivery. A special emphasis is placed on releasing tension in the hips, sacrum and shoulders. Modifications are offered for each trimester to make this program appropriate for women at any stage of pregnancy.

Vinyasa Yoga

Vinyasa means “to place something in a special way,” meaning an asana or yoga posture. In Vinyasa yoga, movement is coordinated with breath to “flow” from one pose to the next.

You can expect a fluid moving class that incorporates sun salutations, occasional inversions and challenging postures. With safe intelligent sequencing, you will leave feeling challenged, invigorated and renewed. Attending regular classes will strengthen your core muscles, balance, improve flexibility as well as increase breath capacity and awareness. Due to the vigorous nature and pace of the class we do not recommend it to our prenatal or injured clients.

Candlelight Yoga

A nourishing way to end the day! Use this Candlelight class to relax, unwind, and relieve tension in the body, heart, and mind. This class will combine the mellow flowing sequence of classic hatha yoga, as well as breathing and relaxation exercises.

Yin With Restorative Yoga

Give your body the opportunity to fully rejuvenate and repair itself in this relaxing yin yoga class combined with restorative poses. Holding poses for a longer period of time encourages the connective tissue to feel more elastic, providing you with an increase of range of motion and a feeling of space within.

This is a practice that stretches and re-balances even the most stubborn tendons, ligaments and fascia in the body. There will be gentle hands-on adjustments to help guide you into the right posture for your body.

Yin Yoga

Give your body the opportunity to fully rejuvenate in this relaxing yin yoga class. We will begin the class with a pranayama exercise, and invite a personal and group intention to open spiritual awareness.

Hip opening postures are held longer than in a traditional hatha yoga class. Holding poses for 3-5 minutes encourages the connective tissue to feel more elastic, providing you with an increase of range of motion and a feeling of space within. This is a practice which stretches and re-balances even the most stubborn tendons, ligaments and fascia in the body. Old scar tissue melts away. The muscles on both sides of the body are lengthened are brought into harmony. This class also encourages a release of blockages, allowing energy to flow within our meridians.

Power Hatha Yoga

This fun and challenging class will build balance, strength and endurance. It begins with a Pranayama exercise, warm up series, standing asanas including Surya Namaskar, a cool down mat sequence, savasana and finally 3 Om’s to complete the practice. Cues are provided to safely flow in and out of the asanas while offering a quiet space to check in with your body, focus your drishtis and observe your thoughts. You will be encouraged to play with the pose, challenge your own limitations and have self inquiry about what feels best for you in the moment.

You’re going to be a little sweaty during class and, if new to Hatha Power Flow Yoga, a little sore afterwards as you develop the ability to articulate your own body. As you leave your mat you’ll be feeling centred, confident and energized taking this calmness with you for the rest of your day.

Hatha Flow Yoga

A typical class includes balancing postures to improve the health of the nervous system, spine strengthening postures and deeper, nourishing stretches on the floor.

In this class, hatha postures are sequenced to allow fluid movement from one asana to the next. Modified versions of postures are offered, making this class suitable for beginners and people with injuries. More challenging options are also offered to more advanced students. Each class ends with a relaxation and often a story, visualization and/or mantra music.

Slow Flow Hatha
Hatha, meaning sun (ha) and moon (tha) aims to balance and honor the masculine (power, hot, sun) and the feminine (intuitive, cool, moon) in each of us uniting our opposite aspects. Connecting movement to breath in this lovely slow paced, gentle hatha yoga class gives you time to sink into the postures allowing full integration of the practice. With ample time to breathe deeply and move mindfully the beginner through to the advanced practitioner will enjoy the benefits of vinyasa without the pressure and speed of a faster class. This class will present an inviting opportunity to open the muscles, breath and mind to the intention behind the movement. There will be longer holds within the complete and through class ending with a juicy savasana to close the class.

Hatha

Hatha is also translated as ha meaning “sun” and tha meaning “moon.” This refers to the balance of masculine aspects—active, hot, sun—and feminine aspects—receptive, cool, moon—within all of us. Hatha yoga is a path toward creating balance and uniting opposites. A great class for all students to calm the nervous system, the mind, and the body for the end of the day.

Core Yoga
In this Hatha based yoga class the student will participate in all the intriguing and challenging aspects of a strong yoga flow class with an emphasis on core. Modifications will be made for newer students when necessary so each student can experience the strengthening of core strengthening postures as well as connecting to their breath, stretching and strengthening the whole body. The emphasis is on the core in this flow class and targeted exercises/movements will be added to the sequence ensuring a challenging core workout as well as a complete full body yoga practice. Balancing postures and postures focused on the abdominal region, the hips and the lower back will be highlighted to teach proper alignment and encourage the importance of a mobile and strong core. Improve your standing and seated posture in your everyday life with this core focused Hatha Flow class.

Gentle Therapeutic Yoga

This class is designed to help release tension and promote relaxation. Anyone suffering from injury or illness can learn techniques to help deal with pain and calm the mind.

Throughout the class, we explore different breathing techniques and learn postures that are restorative and healing. In addition, we make use of various yoga props such as foam blocks and bolsters in order to increase the benefits of certain poses. The class finishes with a meditation. All levels are welcome.

Yoga Foundations

PRE-REGISTER • 4 WEEK SERIES

Begin again or review your yoga practice with this 4 week pre-registered series. Designed for the complete beginner and anyone who wishes to become reacquainted with the fundamentals of yoga. You will learn 30+ postures, how to practice them safely for your body and how to modify each to safely and confidently attend a wide range of yoga classes. You will also learn pranayama (breath control), meditation and some yogic philosophy all with the goal of becoming a little more connected to yourself - body, mind and soul. Each month there will be a different foundational focus that stands alone and also enhances consecutive series encouraging students to continue to grow their practice with Yoga Foundations.

Yoga For Pelvic Health

PRE-REGISTER • 6 WEEK SERIES

This 6-week pre-registered gentle and slow paced yoga series will draw your attention to mindful contraction and relaxation of the pelvic floor. You will explore body-mind connection through the co-ordination of breath and mindful movements. A gentle and mindful core strengthening movements will be practiced to promote pelvic stability and balance.

Peggy Fok, C-IAYT, RYT® 500, E-RYT® 200 Peggy is a Certified Yoga Therapist and an Advanced Therapeutic Yoga Instructor. She is a graduate of Ajna Yoga College. She teaches group and individual classes. Her teaching focuses in wholistic yoga benefits, breath, mindfulness, alignment and balance (both physical and inwardly) in a fun and supportive environment. Sharing the joy of yoga, Peggy encourages participants to explore their personal practice through mindful movements in their own pace within their range of motion.

Baby & Me Yoga

PRE-REGISTER • 6 WEEK SERIES

This 6-week pre-registered yoga series is designed for parents and babies up to nine months (with doctor’s approval). This series will give both parent and baby an opportunity to make the most of this precious time in life. Everyone will get the chance to stretch, move and relax while spending time together. This class allows parents to focus on baby when necessary; nursing, changing diapers, comforting, while also getting time to focus on oneself. Find music, laughter, massage and hands-on stretching in this enjoyable class. This series is limited to 18 parent & baby pairs.

Pilates Mat

Participants can expect to strengthen their core and spine while they tone their entire body. Improved body awareness, deeper breathing, better balance and coordination are other side effects of this class. This Pilates mat class is appropriate for those discovering the benefits of Pilates for the first time, but is also appropriate for those who wish to immerse themselves further in the basics of Pilates exercise technique while enjoying a fun, safe workout.

In order to add more fun, variety and an extra strength building component, students will use resistance equipment such as the magic circle, foam rollers, flex bands, mini stability balls and dumbbells. Strengthen, tone, stretch, relax and rejuvenate in this fun, relaxed setting.

• May be unsuitable for osteoporosis and during certain stages of pregnancy (due to flexion exercises)

Fitness Pilates

Fitness Pilates takes all the good stuff from a Pilates Mat class and adds more standing sequences. You can expect to have greater combinations of movements, increased cardio effort, and more resistance than a typical mat class in for form of hand weights and resistance bands. Participants can expect to strengthen their core and spine while they tone their entire body. Improved body awareness, deeper breathing, better balance and coordination are other side effects of this class.

This Pilates mat class is appropriate for those discovering the benefits of Pilates for the first time, but is also appropriate for those who wish to immerse themselves further in the basics of Pilates exercise technique while enjoying a fun, safe workout. In order to add more fun, variety and an extra strength building component, students will use resistance equipment such as the magic circle, foam rollers, flex bands, mini stability balls and dumbbells. Pilates Barre

Pilates Barre is a challenging and fun fitness class that focuses on impactful, deliberate movement designed to build strength and tone muscle using the barre in combination with free weights, bands and other equipment for resistance. This class uses the ballet barre for about half the class, focusing on ballet-like fitness techniques and then transfer to the mat for Pilates Mat exercises. These challenging combinations, and movements will push your fitness limits and challenge you to go deeper into each exercise. Modifications are available from our seasoned instructors.

Bellyfit

Bellyfit is  moving women in a way that is strong, sexy and sacred. By blending the power & wisdom of ancient practices, with the research, technology and trends of the modern world, Bellyfit classes offer much more than just ‘a workout’. Intelligently designed by women, for women, Bellyfit classes offer a full body, full of spirit, extraordinary exercise experience inspired by dance, fitness and Yoga.

Barre Yoga Fusion

A ballet barre inspired class that is a fusion of Barre and Yoga. In this class, we will be focusing on our breath and strength to create long, lean muscles while bringing relaxation to the mind. Expect to sweat, stretch and have fun with this flow. Modifications and props will be given and no experience is necessary.

Yogilates

This class is a fusion blend of yoga, Pilates and fitness conditioning that challenges strength, balance and flexibility. Participation in this class will also increase stamina, focus the mind and tone the entire body. Each yogilates class concludes with one of a variety of relaxation techniques followed by mantra music.

Busy people love this class because they can enjoy the benefits of yoga and Pilates at the same time. All fitness levels are welcome. In order to add more fun, variety and an extra strength building component to the Pilates portion of this class, students will use resistance equipment such as the magic circle, foam rollers, flex bands, mini stability balls and dumbbells.
