One Leg Circle
The primary intent of one leg circle is to strengthen the deep torso stabilizers by using them to keep the torso still while one leg is circling.
One leg circle also has the following objectives:
- improves hip mobility
- improves the ability to move the leg separately from the pelvis
- develops better control of the hip flexors
- teaches control of the pelvis while the leg is moving in many directions
Benefits of one leg circle include:
- a dynamic stretch for the hamstring, adductor and abductor muscles
- the potential to relieve tension in the lower back and hip
Fundamental exercises for the leg circle include Lateral thoracic breathing, neutral spine, shoulder shrugs, imprinting, leg slides, knee fold.
