What They Practice: Celebrities Who Love Yoga

Practiced by over 20 million Americans, it’s no surprise that some of our favourite celebrities are among those hitting the yoga mat. With demanding careers in the spotlight, it makes a lot of sense that many famous faces take solace in uniting their mind, body and souls to stay grounded.

Instead of asking what designers these celebs are wearing, this yogini wants to know what they’re practicing?

Lady Gaga
This gorgeous and eccentric singer loves the intense practice of Bikram’s yoga.

Adam Levine
The lead singer of Maroon 5, and judge on the Voice, enjoys alignment based yoga with his personal instructor, who travels worldwide with the band while on tour.

A pop legend who, at over 50, appears to have the energy of a 20-something. When it comes to stretching and breathing, Ashtanga is her yoga practice of choice.

Yoga is a metaphor for life. You have to take it really slowly. You can’t rush. You can’t skip the next position. You find yourself in very humiliating situations, but you can’t judge yourself. You just have to breathe, and let go. It is a workout for your mind, your body and your soul.” – Madonna

Gisele Bundchen
The famous supermodel and mom thanks yoga for helping her get back into top shape after giving birth – twice. Since yoga is known to elongate and tone muscles, it’s no surprise Gisele turns to her yoga practice to help stay fit.

Bethenny Frankel
This entrepreneur and real housewife prefers power yoga to keep her healthy and toned.

Michelle Williams
As a single mom and passionate yogini, she co-founded the “Yoga for Single Moms Project” which provides single parents with free yoga classes and child minding.

And these are only a few of the many celebrities who bask in the benefits of yoga, now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to find out if there are any openings on Maroon 5’s next tour.
